A COURT EPISODE
During the hearing of a divorce <suit in the Supremo Court yesterday morning before His Honour Mr. Justice Hosking there was a short possage-at-armsbe-tween Judge and counsel. Mr. T. \Y. Hislop, in his opening address to the jury for the defence, stated that he desired to call a nurso as a witness, but unfortunately/she was an elderly person and lie was not sure whether she wouliL bo present, although he had offered to send a conveyance for her. nis Honour: You must not reter to evidence that you are not certain you can produce. : Mr. nislop: I am not sure of any witness being present. I know how to address tlifi jury. . . , His Honour: I am \in control of tlw Court, Mr. Hislop, and I intend to exercise that control. ... Mr. Hislop continued lus address on •the subject, and on concluding, asked liis Honour if there was anything wroi o with his statement.
His Honour: No. Mr. Hislop: That is all I intended to say to tho jury.
