AEROPLANE FLIGHTS BY MINISTERS
SIR JAMES ALLEN'S VIEWS ON THE FUTURE OF AVIATION.

Christchurch, August 20. Sir James Allen and Sir William Fraser visited the Flying School this morning, and both Ministers made an aeroplane flight over,the city. Sir James'' Allen this evening said:— "As an aviation centre, Sockburn is highly favoured. I think aviation lias coma to 6tay, and that the Government must tako it up in any scheme of defence. If the Government comes to tlio same conclusion it must either do somethins to establish flying schools or encourage private ectiools. I cannot say which policy will be accepted. It may bo better to follow the policy of working in with private schools."
Sir William Fraeer, who also made a flight, spoke most enthusiastically of tho beauty of tlio whole ecene. The interviewer suggested to Sir William that it was rather splendid of him to undertake his first flieht at such an advanced ago (Sir William is 78). "I enjoyed every minute of it," replied the Minister with a 6mile.
