BUMPER WHEAT CROP IN AMERICA
Government hopes of n billion wheat crop are encouraged by the United States Department of .Agricultme's forecast (states the bulletin of the New York Guaranty "..'rust Company, iii its isiuo of Juuo'lS). Basing its estimate on the condition of the crop on June 1, the Department forecasts a total wheat production of 931,000,000 bushels, an indication of the second lurgesU,crop in the history of tho country. In 1915 when tho Juno forecast wits 950,000,000 bushels tho yield was 1,025,800,000. The condition oi tliu spring wheat crop on June 1 this year ■was 95.2 per cent, of a normal, or 1.3 per cent, better than the ten-year average. The average sown was greater by 2,000,000 acres than ever awn before-, and 21.5 per cent, larger Hum last year, aggregating. 22,189,001' acres. Winter wheat showed a condition 3 per cent, better than the lenjear average, with 83.8 of a normal. A production ot 587,00(1,000 bushels was forecasted. Record crops of oats and rjo are also promised. The forecast fot rye production is £1,000,000 bushels, (.gainst ft crop last year of 60,100,000 bushels, which was a record.
