Mr. J. J. Roberts, secretary of_ the | Wellington Bowling Centre, is visiting . Nelson. I Mr. S. H. Underwood, who is ill, was unable to be present at last evening's meeting of the Wellington Bowling Centre. There is . one country in the world, and probably only one, which gets along with a. single policeman; that is Iceland. Iceland is peopled by the descendants of Vikings, including many famous warriors and heroes, but they are so lawabiding tliat they have no need of policemen. The solitary officer, in snito of his "rpat responsibility, lias an easy time? Ho is maintained more for ornament and dignity than for use. The Icelanders think it would not do to have a capital without a policeman, and so they keep one. Tho police force is large •in one sense. Tts member is six feet high, broad-shouldered, and handsomely uniformed. A happy combination for washing all clothes clean—"NO RIJBBTNG" Laundry Help and "GOLDEN RULE" Soap. Goods that doliglil every wife. J. Priestly, Kelbnrn.—Advt. Wo know that a motorist, in order to enjoy peace of mind and satisfaction, must own a car which possesses all of tho essentials for-comfort and convenience. If any essential is missing the .loss is felt, for it entails extra labour and effort. It is these ossentials that I havo been fully attended to in the manufacture of the advance 1918 CHEVROLET model, "Four-Ninety,", now offered by tho DOMINION MOTOR VEHICLES, LTD., 65 Courtenay Placo. —Advt, ,
