KEEP FIT!
MELBOURNE' SPECIALISTS ADVICE. Influenza being prevalent, a Collins Street (Melbourne) specialist was asked to suggest the best means of avoiding infection. "Whilst," he rcpiied, "thero is a good deal of such illness now in Melbourne, I do not think the condition is worse than usual at this season. The term influenza is often magnified, and catarrh' is frequently attributed to the influenza bacillus when it is due to other organisms, and to that extent is infective. There is no universal panacea for infection. A vaccine treatment was suggested, but did not prove a. success. Every cold is infective to a less or greater degree, but it is impracticable to avoid coming into contact with neonla •.Buffering from catarrh, as so many areconstantly about. The most efficacious •way of avoiding infection is to 'keep fit' in every sense of the term. People who are thoroughly well are. less likely to become infepted Uian those whose h°rth is not what it should he. However, if after all one does become infected, the best advice T can eive is to take a hot drink and stop in bed.''
