' : The fact that the Government has decided to purchase two million bushels of Australian wheat, and that one-half is expected:to be landed during the next six months, will relievo those millers who have not been able to secure anything like their requirements of locally-grown •wheat. There is no grain offering from the country. There is an improved inquiry for oats, Gartona being worth 4s. (id. and 4s. 9d.' at country stations, and supplies are very scarce. Oatsheaf chaff is firmer as cutting has been suspended during the late bad weather and orders Mve to bo filled out of stocks in hand. The improved demand for oats and chaff is due to North Island requirements nnd a special shipment is loading for Napier. Potatoes are firmer at M ss. for Whites, and M 103. for Dakota Hods, at country stations. Onions, also, have advanced, and are now quoted at .I'll to j>ls nt country stations. The southerly gale has further interfered with deliveries of produce from farmers. White clover is firmer, and i-s quoted at Is. 9(1. and Is. lfld. at country stations. There is fair inquiry for tow grass as none is offering, Hhetling having been put. a stop to by the bad weather. Mangels have been in jjood demand for snow-bound stock, and there has also been some inquiry for hay. The supply of molasses (or stock feeding with straw is Quite'exhausted.
