Buddc- Ims received a letter from a friend, in Ayrshire, a daily farmer, stating milk and cheese is ■ in great demand. Milk off the farm is (/noted at Is. Gd. a gallon, cheese leas, per cwt. for spring make, ten weeks' old pigs , £5 Us., good milk cows up to- ,£7O, and good draught horse? fit for town v.-ork from ,£BO to .£2OO. The scarcity in horses is due to extra ploughing *and tree carting, many of tho best animals having gone to I'ranco, where their life was very short. tribunals ire very numerous, such as food production committees, food control committees, soldiers' and sailors' pension committees, old-age penejons committees, and so on. The authorities are calling '-p 30,000 mor.e young men from the farms from nineteen to - twenty-three, and if they do not relievo gome lower-grade' men from the Army they.> will be left yery shorthanded for harvest.
