NEW MAGISTRATES
TWO APPOINTMENTS .ANNOUNCED. The Minister of Justice (t.ho Hon. T. Jf. Wilford) announced last night the appointment of two Additional Magistrates to the magisterial bench, Mr. .T. S. Bartori, of Wellington, and Mr. S. L. V. Free, ol' Christchurch. Mr. Barton is a member of the firm of Messrs. Barton and Mazengarb. and ho lias a 'reputation with tlio profession of being iv sound and studious lawyer. Iln has had experience of .business as an accountant, v'liich should add to his usefulness as a Magistrate. He is younger than are most of the appointees to tlio Magistracy. Mr. Free is a member of the wellknown firm of Messrs. Free and Cotterill, who have practised on tlio West Coast and in Christchurch.
