ITALIAN DAREDEVILS IN ATTACK INCIDENTS OF THE BATTLE London, July 8. Tho Kalian Arditi, or Daredevils, per- r formed astounding feats of agility in tlio J closing phase of tho battle. They adopted a novel method in approaching and silencing a swarm of machine-guns which were behind barb-wire. Tho Daredevils carried long vanning poles, and made a mighty rush and jumped the obstacles, landing at the rear of the bewildered gunners, driving daggers into tlio backs of tho Austrian*. Ono Daredevil alnne stampeded eight Austrians into the Italian lines under tho menace of his uplifted hand-bomb. One Bersaglieri company captured a battery of six four-inch field mortars, and another, preceded by Arditi. armed with flame-throwers, stormed a factory in tho face of forty machineguns. Bitter recriminations aro going on between Field-Marshal Conrad von Hoetzendorff and General Borovitch. The latter accused the former of making a fatal mistake in concentrating his troops in valleys dominated }>y the Italian artillery.
