When tho famous American dramatic star, Margaret Wyeherley, arrived in Sydney, whero she is to mako her first appearance in Australia in "The Thirteenth Chair," she found that "Within tho Law" was being revived by the Muriel Starr Company, a fact which greatly pleased the actress, for "Within the Law" was written by her husband, Bayard Veiller, who is also the author of '"The Thirteenth Chair." The lntter play was produced on Saturday last. It is not often the ease that a big theatrical company is able to play Gisborne one night nnd open in another centre on tho night following. That was the performance put up by the "Dick Whittington" Company last week. The Arahura left the river port in tliO i forenoon, mado the passage to Napier in six and a half hours, and, thanks to expeditious railway work, the whole of the big production was transported to Hastings in time for the curtain lo bo raised at 8.30 p.m.—a notable achievement.
