LEVIN NOTES
(From a Special Correspondent.) Recently the members of tlie old Levin Fire Brigade met and made a presenta. tion to their captain (Mr. S. M'Taggart) as an expression of the feeling of goodwill that has' always existed between thorn. Mr. B. Johnston spoke on behalf of the members, and Mr. M'Taggnrt suitably replied. Jlr. W. Hudson is visiting Levin this week, and will lecture on "The Science of Business," and "The Philosophy of Profit Making." Mr. Hudson is 'NewZealand organiser of the Business .Science Circle movement. Local interest in football, which ha 9 been somewhat dead of late, was awakened again on Saturday last, when a te-am from Otaki played against a Shannon team. Both spectators and players were most enthusiastic, and a good game, with a win for Otaki, was the result. The average rainfall per month for Levin is 3.3 inches. Last month exceptionally heavy rain fell in this district, in fact, the heaviest and most consistent for some time, the total for the raont'i being 5.7;") inches. The practices held every week by tho members of Levin's new fire brigado are being well attended, and memper.3 are taking a keen interest in tlio work. It is hoped to have every member thoroughly conversant with his duties in n very short time, under the leadership of Captain J. Milnes and Lieut. H. D. Macintosh.
