Pretoria, July 2. General Botha has issued a statement calling tho attention of the people to the prevailing state of tension t'ollow> ing on iho activities of various political organisations and rather agencies which have been working for some timo with the object of bringing olxmt trouble in view of the disturbed political (and industrial situation. The Government lias good reason for suspecting that the enemy agencies are intriguing to stir up 'strife, not only among tha Europeans, but among tho natives. Tho events of the past: few days have necessitated prompt and effective, measures, which, unless taken, would have resulted in ;;rave disturbances with probably serious loss of life. _ Tho Government has information pointing to the existence of n movement for Ihe subversion of the Constitution by methodp of violance. General Botha warns all peace lovers not to countenance these mischievous elements, —Renter.
