Sir—The Mayor and tho city engineer met a number of Day's Bay ratepayers on Wednesday morning for the purpose of explaining the proposed drainage scheme, for which a poll is to he taken on Monday next At this meeting the question was raised as to whether 't would, not he advisable to effect the discharge of tho offluonf" thfi soptic tanks only on the ebb tid'e, so as to obviate as far as possible nnv contamination of the beach. Mr. Morton thought .that this was not only unnecessary but impracticable, and stated so plain* t enough.
