It. previously indicated that'it would take fore- v iblo steps id prevent any action being a taken. t At a largely attended public meeting today of business people and properly owners to discuss the question of taking steps to prevent the water coming through the railway culvert at Jacobsfowh and flooding (he town, the following resolution was passed:—"This meeting endorses the action of those citizens of Gore who yesterday assumed the responsibility of closing the opening ~ in 'the railway reserve at Jacobstown. t through which' tho flood wafers entered and overflowed the business part of the ( town, and pledges itself to eo-operate | c; with the council in bringing tbe matter r beforo the minister of liailways, and j urges the. necessity for urgent action on the part of the Department to keep tho culvert at Jacobstown closed, or. j, provided with a floodgate." ■ —_ t
