The additional hospital accommodation that is to be provided at Eotorua for returned soldiers will consist of two hospital blocks for men and a separate building of eight rooms for officers. There will be beds for eight' officers and 71 of j ,- other ranks. These buildings, are to be ■used for the treatment of orthopaedio cases, and are to be situated oni Pukeroa Hill. Each of the main -wards is to be 37ft. ■. long by 22ft wide, and will allow ample accommodation for twelve men. In addition to three of these wards in each block, a single-bed ward will bo provided. There will be ample lavatory accommodation centrally for each building. Commodious ,-erandans are a feature of the design. These run the whole, length of the buildings. In addition to these ; hospital blocks, <xtra accommodation is ; to be provided for thirty orderlies, and ; there will be ai bath house, comprising, swimming bath "40ft. by 15ft., air bath, eldctrio _bath, and massage room 50ft. by 12ft., with ample dressing Toom, waiting ; room, and packing rocm accommodation. I Curative hot water for tho baths will be provided by pumping from a hot lake about 150 ft. below the lewl of the bath '. site. A workshop (50ft. by' 24ft.), for functional and vocational training, is in- ; eluded in the contract.' The present re- ! creation room is tq be enlarged to accom- ! modate another billiard table. Electricity will be employed in lighting throughout the building.' The new buildings are to bo erected in wood by Me3srs. Augur and Norris, of .Lower Hutt,' who-are the lowest tenderers.
