RECRUITING
MEN ATTESTED FOR FUTURE DRAFTS. Reports that have reached the Director of Recruiting show that voluntary rocruits are increasing the. strength of tXo Forty-fourth Reinforcements, which will commence mobilisation on July IG. The number of recruits eet down for the forty-fourth draft on Juno IB was 537, and by June 22 this number had increased to 727, largely owing to voluntary enlistments nnd voluntary advancement of mobilisation dates. The mobilisation lists at the end of last week showed tie following recruits:— 44th draft (Mγ 16-20) 727 45th draft (August 13-17) 12S0 46th draft (Sept. 10-14) 1281 47th draft (October &-12) 121 It will be remembered that the Minister of Defence stated in April that tho present increased rate of reinforcement would continue for five months, that is, until August. If the rate nf reinforcement is reduced to the old level iu. August, 6ome of the men at present nseigned to the September draft will require to be transferred to the Ootober draft. The figures given above do not include all the Clnss B men; and they include nouo of the Class C men, with, tho exception of eome voluntary recruits. , The number of recruits attested to enter camp'with the CI drafts at the end of Inst week were as follow :— 10th draft (July 4) GO9 11th draft (August 1) 3(2 12th draft (August 29) 346 33th draft (September 28) 164 At least 60 per cent of these men will become available subsequently for the ordinary camps. Group 5 (Wellington City and Suburbs) up to the end of lost week had attested 47 men for the July Reinforcement, 161 men for the August reinforcement, 197 men for th» September reinforcement, and 20 men for the October reinforcement.
