COMPETITIONS SOCIETY
A meeting of the Executive Council of the Wellingtou r ompelitions Society was held ln.st evening. The Tiegis!rar of Friendly Societies wrote forwarding certificate of registration of the society under the Incorporated Societies Act. Messrs. Harold Gregson and .1. F. Montague, both of Auckland, were appointed judges in the music and elocution sections respectively, and Mrs. Montague, oC Wellington, was appointed official accompanist. The programme committee submitted a draft programme of IMI classes in literature, debating. elr,''i;tion,vocal, and instrumental music, Srotcu and classical dancing, juvenile ami adult choir contests, also Boy Scout competitions. The following offers of special prizes were received -.-Brislol I'ia";! i scholarship in piano section; Messrs. Chas. Begg and Co.. silver shield for adult: choirs,-and a silver shield I'nr the junior choir, also a trophy valued at .£3 !fe., lo he awarded as the council may decide; Messrs. F. J. I'iiiny. ;> gold w;.lch for Ihe piano section. A number of smaller trophies were promised from various tradespeople in the city. II was resolved that the fee for membership of the society should be one guinea, eislitjiiv* the member to admittance lo rdl sessions of the competitions, also one extra lickefc for each evening performance.
