All of these steamers will rcceivo general cargo until noon. * Bluff eargo will be received until 11 a.m. to-day by the Blackball Coal Company's Ngatoro, sailing at noon. On completion of discharge or a part cargo of coal, ilio Ngatoro will load general eni'go for Wellington," and is due direct from Bluff about Kntnrdny next. The Union Company advise that the Kaitangata with general cargo from Dunedin and produce from Oamaru, which port she is to leave this afternoon direct for Wellington, is due early on Monday morning. Messrs. M'Artlmr, Jeffries, and Co.. local agents for the Karu, arc in_ receipt, of advice saying that tho vessel is due hero this afternoon from Lyttelton. On Monday slio will sail for Tarakohe to load cement for Lyttelton.
Tho Blacball Coal Company advise that tlie fvgaherc is due to arrive at Wellington at an early hour this morning Irom Greymouth. A full load will be discharged for Inilliß and town orders, and the vessel will return on Monday to load for Timaru.
An InriWry into the circumstances connected with the loss of the launch Monarch in tho Wanganm roadstead some little time ago was opened on Wednesday last, at Wanganui. The Court consisted 2 S.M., and Captain 'Ir. 0. C. Ilutton represented tlio Marine Department, and Mr. W. iT. Ircadwcll the Wanganui Harbour Board. John Harwich, master of ' the sterner John, said that in his opinion the .Monarch could never have crossed the bar, and took Icsb risk by remaining in tho roadstead. It might have been possible to save life by beaching the vessel, but it was Impossible for the harbour officials to do anything to Eave the. vessel. Tile inquiry was at this stage adjourned. Captain Appleyard has taken command of a Union Company steamer at Auckland, relieving Captain TV". Martin, who came ashore on holiday leave.
