FOOD RIOTS IN HOLLAND
« BARRICADED STREET AT THE . HAGUE. Amsterdam, April 13. '"Disorder means famine," is the heading of a pro'lamation recenlly issued by the Burgomaster of Rotterdam, in the course of which he gravely warns the population against collecting in crowds and against indulging in all unruly behaviour. The proclamation adds that the police nnd the military have been ordered to take immediate and energetic action in all such cases. The Hague correspondent to the "Handelsbhid" says that among the victims of yesterday evening's riots was a young girl who was killed by 11 stray bullet, while in another part of the' town a Belgian was found lying dead in the street. In another case a boy was wounded in the arm by a stray shot. Thirteen other cases were dealt with at various hospitals in the city. The "Telcgraaf" reports that during the rioting at The Hague the mob yesterday evening barricaded one street with barbed wire. A cavalry patrol, however, subsequently broke it down. Hunger demonstrations, tho paper adds, are reported from Gormchem and Delft in South Holland, and from Enkhuizen and Haarlem in North Holland, whilst disturbances also occurred at Maarssen in the province of Utrecht, and at Rotterdam.
