ONSLOW BOROUGH AFFAIRS
v MEETING OP THE COUNCIL. The ordinary meeting of the Onslow Borough Council was held last evening. Tho Mayor (Mr. J. M. Dale) presided, and Councillors E. A. Budd, W. Appleton, E. Hobbs, G. F. Hodgson, E. G. Tucker, A. B. Topp, and A. W. Palmer were present also. Mensre. Levin and Co., Ltd., vrToto asking permission to erect a bridge across tho Kaiwarra Stream to connect with their proposed new building. Porirua Road, Kaiwarra. Permission iras granted, provided the bridge wns made safe for traffic. The Mayor and Councillor E. A. Budd were appointed delegates to tho confnrenco of local bodies to considor tho increasee in tho Hospital and Charitable Aid Board levies. ... '. The special Amalgamation Committee was instructed to wait on the I'inanco Committee of the City Council and'urge' that the question of amalgamation ljo considered as early as possible. Tho estimates for the year were shown at J52595 17s. 3d., less receipts .£874 10s., the amount required being thus .£1721 "s. 3d. The unimproved valuo of the borough is ,£259,880. The general rate was fixed at 1 s;i-GAd., estimated to yield .81972; the hospital and charitable aid rate at 17-64 d.; for'works loan, IG-Gid,; Kaiwarra. drainage rale, IC-Gld.; catchment area loan, ID-Gld.; Hutt Road loan, 11-6'ld The Kaiwarra lighting rate is abandoned for this soar.
