At the annual meeting of the Carter, ton. Citizens' and Settlers' Entertain, ment Committee, votes of thanks were accorded all who had assisted iu the weekly soldiers' socials (luring th» year, and tlie following were elected nn oxecufive for tho ensuing year:—Mesdamcs C I'airbrother, Berrill, A. King. G. Hiighan, L. Aplin, E. Eagle, and Miss Tel ford, Messrs. T. S. Arcua, 1 , . Playle, E. Eagle, A. Phillpotts, W. Sorensen, A. King, and .1. A. Dudson. Mr. Gordon Huglian (Mayor) is an ex-officio member of the executive. Miss C. Berrill and Mr. N. Pl. Armstrong wero re-elected joint-were, laries.
Several dairy farmers in the CarteHon district have' installed water-power for working their milking plants, and it is understood that several other farno-s who have tho necessary streams through their properties intend adopting a similar course for next season.
