Empire to come to England and ]?ra4'c'e as. guests'of the Ministry.. ..• ■■ ' ~ Following is the text of the message received on the subject by the Government ~l'rom the-Now Zealand iligh Commissioner:—: ■ "'■• ■ ■
'"Ministry of Information ' invites a mission, of five editors or owners of the Press of' New Zealand to visit Great Britain; and front as guests of the Ministry. They statu selection'left entirely,in my-(our) hands, by which I take it tliey mean the New Zealand Government. They particularly desire that mission be composed of men belonging to highest standing in"New- Zealand' newspaper: profession; and that if practicable all sections be represented. Trip in Great-.-Britaiii an.dJ?rance will occupy a period; of four' iyeeks... Suggested that they leave at once.. Ministry will pay all 'expenses.- Please Inform me as soon as possible, what arrangements made and names of those constituting mission.— (Signed) .Mackenzie.'" On receipt of the message the' Acting. Prime Minister (Sir James Alien) communicated at once with-Mr; P. Selit?, of Christchurch, president"'of the Newspaper Proprietors , ' Association, asking for his advicoas ,to tho best method of selecting the delegation from New- Zealand. '-Mr ; Selig ■ suggested - that .the matter should be brought the'ex-. Dcutive of.ithe association; and that the members of the. executive be summoned to meet the Minister in ■Wellington on Tuesday next- To this proposal the Minister'has agreed,'arid the meeting will be held accordingly on Tuesday.
