Editorially tho April "Journal" says- "It is observed with regret that little interest is taken in the 'Journal,' either by secretaries or by members of boards, and there lias been no response to the Minister's foreword in the December number asking medical superintendents matrons, and .secretaries - to forward monthly Holes on all matters of 'interest, with a view to providing a means of communication between hospitals and asfisting to uaite tho hospital service. 1 hough, however, the Department can hardly insist that such contributions should be furnished, it can and does expect that requests contained in the 'Journal' iu connection with ordinary administration'matters shall be attended to. in the February number of the 'Journal' secretaries; wore iequested to forward to the Department a copy of the board's by- ! law's, so that a complete set might be available for comparison and loferenne. With very few exceptions this request was entirely ignored. The 'Journal' is oitontuucs used in place of a circular, and requests for information published therein should bo duly attended to. 'In last month's 'Journal' was a request for an opinion from- boards us to allowances to inmates of charitable institutions, and it is hoped that boards concerned will ucijjn. to reply. In view of the lack of interest taken in the 'Journal,' the Department has under consideration the reduction ot the pageu f rom sixteen to eight, consisting mainly of statistical matter ot interest, if not to our own boards, at least to public health and .other authorities.in other ~,u-(3 o f tho world, many isf..,vhom have'written letters and articles i-spressing tneir ' appreciation of tha publication." -
