By Teleeraph.-Prees Aiaociation. Dunedin, May 15. At Burnside yaids 218 fat cattle were yarded. Prices were on a par with last week's rates. Prime heavy bullocks, JBIO to .£2l; medium. .£ls 10s. to .618; light, unfinished, .£lO 10s. upwards; prime heavy heifers, .£l4 to .£l6; medium, £11 10s. to £13; light, aged, ji9 to £11. Tho number of sheep penned was 1920. There Tyere very few prinio, the bulk being light and inferior. Good quality 'sold at an advance of about 2s. per head on last week's prices. Inferior realised lalo rates. Prime heavy wethers, 455. 6d. to Ms. 6d.; prime, 41s. to 445.; medium, 31a, to_ ffis.,-, light, unfinished. 275.' to. 315.; prime heavy ewes ; 435. to 435. 3d.; prime. 98s. to 413.; medium, 325. to 375.; light, aged, 15s. to 225. 6d. The lambs penned numbered 2074. The quality was fair, freezers buying at late rates. Specially heavy, 465. to 535.; prime, 30s. to !!45.; medium, 275. to 295.; light, unfinished, 20s. upwards. There was a small yarding of pigs. All sorts sold under keen compeEltion. Best porkers, BM. to 8?d. per lb.; best baconers, 9d. per lb.
Tho wheat yield in the Palmerston Sou tli district, says a southern paper, is probably one of thV 'owesfc in its history. Tho average (rop is said to be about 10 bushels to the acre, and" yields of as low as six bushels are reported. The best crop of which a correspondent has so far heard has been that of Mr. Re'ndall, of Wailcotmili; it (hrashed out at ■what is for this season the remarkable quantity of 40 bushels.
A Clarevillo farmer states that the farmers of that district have had great rliflrciiltv in getting their oats and wheat thrashed. They waited for four months for a mill to do tho work, hut owing to tho shortage of labour the. millowners preferred to get the cliaffctittimr finished first, because that work \yas morn profitable. Now the farmers V.uve procured a mill and obtained a man lo drive tho engine, and the machine is being taken from term to farm to secure the cereals before the wintery weather sets. in.
