Penniless, lioM Fran, Wartime, and Thrace were the tirsl out, this ijuartot jumping fivo hurdles, tiie two first-named finishing together, with the other pair as naoiQd. Gold Fran, with the exception of one fence, lumped better than usual, while tho others made nn mistakee.
. No Surrender, Larry, and Swastika finished in that order over four hurdles, lho last-named afterwards jumping tho utono wall alono.
Tenaciouj and Gluetanus went together over five hurdles, whilo Kauri King and Smiltane were to join in over the last four, lho last pair, however, jumped olf half a furlong in front, going by themEolvcß. Kauri King fenced plowly over the first two, and Soultane led him to the third obstacle,-at which ho fell, while Kauri King stopped altogether. Ho was tried a couple of times afterwards, but refused on each occasion. Tenacious and Gluetanus gave a good exhibition. Kauri King Was afterwards tried over the small hurdles in company with Silver Pine, when bo jumped all right.
Ghiepot and John Bunny wcro Echoolcd over tho big fences In the centra of the course, going over them a couple of times, and fencing well.
Uautero and llodditc covered a round of the big country, going over tho hill. Excepting that Moddito screwed a. bit at the water the pair fenced well.
Flectham was easily too good for Pyiama and Tokoralii in a gallop over half a mile, while Daytimo was putting, in good work at the end of a similar journey.
Thoro was not much between Jingo and Purling at the business end of a amartlyrun half-mile.

Tremena and Spangle were givqn sprinting exercise, both doing their work well. , Thoro was a great deal of interest taken in a Jumping contest over n round of.the stcpplechaso fences by Vascular' (P. Gray), Bore (P. Ellis), and Purcraata (M'Jlullan). Vasonlor was tho slowest to move, being about three lengths behind when they had jumped tho first obstacle. Ho overhauled them when tho brush double was reached, lho trio landing almo»t on terms. Bore then showed to advantage over each of tho subsequent obstacles. After they had jumped tho sod-wall Bpre took on the post and roils,'while-Vascular and Pareroata jumped tho hurdles. Vascular jumped the last fenco well clear of his opponents, and altogether it was a firstrate display of loping. Bore went on by himself after the othora ulled off. and jumped the- brush double, but- did not show to euch advantage in tin? absence ot company. Jeannot will not be a starter at iho Oaiunru Meeting next week. , ■ Klmbolton was given a turn in \ho jumping ring at Itlccarton on Monday in company with. 'Wollwood. Kimbolton gave a fair showing on being ridden over the obstacles. .... The largest cheques to dinners over the Forbury Trotting Chili's Meeting wero:A. Bcdclift £320, \V. 6. ffootton £160, a. Tho State tn* came to £588 lls. 5d., the dividend tax £515 19s. 6d., tho stakes tax £15, snd the amusement tax £17 3s. 5d.: total. £1137 4s. 4d. for the day.
