THE RED JERSEY

. BUSY TIMES AHEAD. A "flag and button" day will bo held in the city streets to-morrow in aid of the lied Jersey appeal. Tho event promises to bo an attractive one. A feature will be tho parade of a captured German gun through t'ho streets. This gun will be fully manned and horsed, and will leave tno Barracks at Buckle Street at noon. There will bo no stalls in tho streets, but an army of sellers will offer Hags and buttons, the purchaso of which will enrol the buyers in either the Red or tho Blue Artillery. The soft goods people in Wellington aro moving to establish themselves as a strong force, working for the good of tho Bed Jersey cause, during the last few weeks of the campaign. Adjutant Hosking addressed the whole of the D.I.C. etnlf on Tuesday, the doors of the house being closed during the meeting. As a. result of the meeting it was decided to take up the matter of the Hcd Jersey appeal in a whole-hearted manner, and do all possible to ensure its-success. Tho stall' of George and Kersley's "Economic" also met Adjutant Hosking and wore most enthusiastic in carrying a motion to the effect that all possible help should bo given to the Red Jersey appeal. In addition to these houses, others are pledged to bear a hand, and it is freely rumoured that when tho results are made known there will be some surprises.

The Kilbirnie Committee liae proved itself a live body.- At a meeting hold last night, it was decided to raid Day's and Kona Bays next Saturday, using the "flag drive" us the modus operandi. The committee has also expressed its willingness to assist any other body in its work of advancing this "good cause.

A Paddy's Market will bo held at Karori on Saturday, in Garratt's shop on tho Main Koad. Goods of all descriptions will be sold for the good of the cause.

A raid (lias been arranged to be held in Wadcstown district ou Saturday afternoon, when the efforts of Kilbirnie will, it is said, be equalled and" perhaps eclipsed.
