HARMONIC SOCIETY.
For the first concert of the season of the Wellington Harmonic Society, to be held at the Town Hall Concert Chamber on Saturday next, a programme quite up to the high standard previously ruachtd has boon arranged, and should certaiuly attract a crowded audiencu. The society will, under the baton of Mr. H. Temple White, render part songs by Piuautl, KaeKtrren, Dβ Pearsall, Davieß, and otUere, and will, by special rpqucst, repeat- the charming madrigal by Lassua (I,i£Ct94), "Matona, Lovely Maiden," which mn ™h much success at the last concert, imd him to be repeated on that oocaßiou. Tt"? programme will conclude with the inspiring "Song of the Vikings," by Efcm ■tseiar, which is' particularly appropriate ;rt 1.-ile time, and which will be tjie only accent panied item by the aociety. Th« v«e&!l*t for the evening is Miss Agnes M. Sssfnef, the popular contralto, who, will oontributo "Softly Awakes Jfy Heart," from iiMfit Saen's "Samson and Delilah, and in tli» second part "All Souls' Day' inil j.I'U Forge." Additional variation In we p"°' gramme will be provided by tho inclusion of items by Mr. Frank R. Johnst-on*. 'cellist, whose item, "Andante," by KU.xy gel, and "Hondo." by Grutzmaoher, will be quite new to Wellington. The tax jiau is reported to be fUling rapidly at Die Bristol, where 2s. tiolrete may be obtained and seats reserved without extra charge.
