Aslier retired from the staff of the Now Zealand Shipping Company at the end of March, after 35 years' service in the company's employ (says the Dunedin "Star"). Further delay has held up the departure of tho Komata for Westport, and Kamo for Greymouth until 4 p.m. to-dn.v. Tho Kamona will now sail to-morrow for Greymouth. ' Tbo Wootton will arrive to-night from Lyttelton, and return to-morrow night, taking general cargo. The Nikau will sail from Wellington on Saturday to her usual time-table, and on Monday wUI '»y up at Nelson for an extensive overhaul. She will return to Wellington on Tuesday, May 7. The Ntrakuta sailed last night, for Greymouth to load for Tokomaru Tlay and Auckland. On account of the semi-holiday the Nikau will receive cargo until noon only to-day. The Collector of Customs at Westport yesterday advised tho Marine Dennrtment as follows:—"Tho master of the Alexander picked up on April 23, twelve miles east of Farewell lighthouse, nn open Lwat about. 12 feet long in good condition. It was painted white, but had no name on it. A pair of rowlocks and two oars were found in the- boat, which was taken on board on* landed at Westport.
