Hymcstra. won the Stakes in good style, and I,ho chestnut horso got a good reception from the trowl. Iceborg ivnß a fow pounds better favourite than Paul Moore in the Kairanga Hurdles. Otter and Lord Ainslio made the early 'running, with tho two favourites handy. Iceberg made a bad jump at the hack and lost his ohanco here. At the turn for home Paul Moore got up on the

fence, and he. Otter, and Lord Ainslio jumped tho fenco together. Paijl Moors wore Lord Ainslle down in the.run to tho .post and. won ly a narrow margin. Coalition finished on well, and beat Otter for third place, Reumac broke down in the race. All Over, Probation, White Blaze, and Astor wero all heavily backed for tho Stonyhurst Welter Handicap. Astor and Hushman were showing the way when, tho field settled down, while George, Multaine, and Probation were prominent amongst the others. Entering the straight Vermilion ran round to the. lead, and at the distanco ahe threw out a vigorous challenge to Asior, but tho latter not to be ( donied, and won all out by a neck. Ohiwia, Hushman, and All Over wero close up. There were only four runners in .the Manawatu Stakes. Estland was the favourite, but not at such a short price an was expected. Hymostra did ik.smart. preliminary, and was a igood second favourite. There were several falso 6tarts, and at tho send-olf HymMtra got off best while Nystad was slow to move! .Hounding the bend Nystad had taken Bccond place, and at tho distance Eatlaudi put in a claim, but neithor of iho pair could make any imipreaßion on tho leader, who won easily by a couple of lengths. Nystad boat Estland by a neck, and Roosian was closo up. . , Torfroda was at a very short price in the Nursery Handicap, and taking chargo at tho barrier' rise, the .full sister, to Hymestra led tha whole .way. Aroh Lassie was prominent for threo furlongs, but she stopped badly. Over tho last bit Tressida, and Volo were challenging tho favourite, but she saw it out well, and won by a narrow margin from Volo, with Trcssida a head. away, and Toka next. Molita and Formline carried the bulk of tho money in the Hack Flying Handi- ' cap, but neither of • the pair could got a place. The winner turned up in Galore who, with Engari, Momao, Gloam, and Formline, was always prominent. Galore saw it out well, and in a punishing,finish be!>t Engari by. a neck.
