WELLINGTON BEATS HAWKE'S BAY

BY 72 RUNS. By Teleirraph.-Prcss' Association. . . Napier, April 1. The cricket match (Wellington v., Hawko's Bay) was resumed at 10.15 this morning, in beautiful weather. J. he wicket was much improved. Haw to s Bay's first innings closed for 101 ruus, and Wellington's second strike realised 118 runs. Tho chief features were good batting by Barker (32) ami Kemmtz (aO). The latter gave a very solid display. Worker, bowling for Hawkes Bay, was most effective, taking seven wickets for U runs. Hawko's Bay did not bat up to expectations, and were all out-in their second innings for 741. Worker going in first wicket down, was responsible for the fine effort of 57 not out. I'ryer (d 3) was tho oniy other batsman to make a serious eland. Lambert (five wickets" for 21 runs) bowled well. Wellington won by 72 runs. Details:— Wellington—Second Innings. Lambert, c.
