STATEMENT BY PRIME MINISTER,

These are in Me direction of providing that Blipe wool shall be' valued .entirely in tnß Dominion, that the requisition of sheepolcius which it was desired; in tho first instance to be ..abandoned should now be continued with somo minor amendments, that the ■present hides requisition shall be continued operative to June 30 next, and that in so far as lamb pelts are concerned, which are only permitted to be shipped to the United Kingdom, tho attention of tho Home authorities bo drawn to the fact that holders of same find themselves fin an unfortunate -position as the result of not being able to obtain shipping facilities to the United Kingdom, and in consequence •are prevented from realising oil, same._ , 'It-has been reported that in anticipation of the reduced prices 'to bo I paid for. hides under the new a.rrange-j-ments buyers of fat stock have been 'reducing their prices for fat cattle by 'as mucli as £1 per head on a beast of ; 8001b. If this is true the 'reduction /is unduly large. The proposed new •price for hides, will ljjd. pei' pound less than that at' present', ruling,•■•■which i would amount to about Bs. on tiie 'hide of an 8001b. bullock.
