WELSH SOCIETY
The annual reunion of the Welsh people in Wellington and surrounding districts was held at the Y.M.C.A. Booms, Willis Street, ' on Saturday evening, and there was a very large attendance of members and friends (a record for the society), including visitors from Auckland, Marton, Wales, Cowra, N.S.W. The proceedings were carried out in a very enthusiastic manner and the programme of the evening was one of the best ever submitted to a Welsh gathering in this city. • The solos hv Mesdames Hatton, Denning, Miss Tucker, Messrs. Jenkins, Bell; Bishop (in AVelsh and English), also two favourite Welsh hymns by a choir of seven voices, were all rendered in a capable manner and raised the enthusiasm of all present. The National An-, them "Hen Wlad fy Uhadan," had a prominent part in the programme,and was sung with hearty enthusiasm by all present. Mr., Mrs., and Miss Tucker also assisted in an able manner and were accorded hearty applause. Miss Lewis acted as accompanist in a capable manner. Votes of thanks were heartily accorded to all who had assisted to carry out the programme, also to the president and executive of the society for their services.
