VENICE BOMBED
HUNS AT THEIR FAVOURITE PASTIME DESTRUCTION OF HOUSES AND CHURCHES London, March 1. Mr. Jeffries (correspondent of the "Daily Mail") states that Gothas, on February 26, dropped a hundred bombs on Venice, many falling round the Doges Palace and the Bridge of Sighs, which, fortunately, escaped. The Rialto Bridge was destroyed and two convents struck. It is calculated that one-third of the houses'are now ruined. Obviously the Huns intend to destroy tho magnificent jewels of architecture in Venice.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. (Rec. March 3, 5.20 p.m.) London, March 2. Mr. Ward Price says: "The fortyfifth air raid oil Venice lasted eight hours. Three hundred bombs were dropped, and thirty-Gight houses and three churches destroyed. In one church a famous Cellini altar landscape was wrecked. The Gothas repeatedly replenished their bombs close to the city, droniug backwards and forwards all night."—United Service.
GERMAN TROOPS REMOVED FROM

An Italian communique states: "A squadron of our seaplanes flow' over Pola on tho night of February 27 and dropped two tons of explosives on the arsenal and other military works, causing large fires.
