(By Telegraph—Special Correspondent.) Palmorston North, March 3.

Advice has been received that a tremendous land slide occurred on Clilf Road, to Kawhatau, on Thursday last, and is probably the largest slip that has taken place at this spot, though some huge slides have happened in the past. The cliff slipped away not far from tho Mangaweka Town Board's power-house, and it is reported that thousands of tons of debris were trought down. So great was the amount of mullock hurled into th 6 Rangitikei Rivor that its passage was blocked for somo time. There is probably no mo?e dangerous portion of the King's highway in New Zealand than this trap on Kawhatau Valley Extension. Every winter brings its harvest of accidents and narrow escapes. This latest slip very nearly overwhelmed a motor-lorry loaded with sheep for the 'faihape- ram fair and driven by P. Noble. t
