It is thought that worry was the causo of the tragedy. Davics's wife recently wrote to a friend: "M.v dear old sweetheart is accused of doing things of which ho has no recollection. They will show him no mercy." Another letter.said:, "By the timo you receive this ■ Tom and I will he far away from you all."— Press Assn. . SHORTAGE IN UNION ACCOUNTS. - (Rcc. February 26, 10.20 p.m.) Melbourne, February 26. The statement is made that Davies was short in his accounts as secretary of the Ironmongers' Union to the extent of £1786. Officials of the union dcclaro that Davies threatened to do away with himself and liis wifo and family ( if prosecuted.—Press Assn.
