Mr. Brown congratulated the sellers of prime birds, especially those farmers who had sent their birds in good condition. At a meeting of the Canterbury EBB Circle, held on February 9, the followiug remits were passed for the coming coherence :-U) That in view of protecting pomtrymen from adulterated pollard, tuo Government be asked to adopt regulations similar to the Australian Stock Foods Act. (2) That iu order to conserve the wheal, supply of the country the Government be asked to remit the duty on a shipment of maize from Australia for use of the poultry industry, fl) That the Government be asked to carry out its promise and establish au experimental poultry farm in Canterbury. (4) That the Government bo asked to relegate the question of returned soldiers and poultry-keepmg to the. Department nf Agriculture, and that full information he obtained from Australia oi the Bystem adopted by the Commonwealth Government. 15) That poultry requisites be placed on the samo Customs basis as agricultural machinery. (6 That attention bo drawn to serioui loss occasioned poultrymen through the . stealing of their poultry and that heavier penalties be imposed. (7) That for the protection of the poultry industry .the Government bo urged to keep in mind the ncccssiy of prohibiting the importation of egg pulp into the Dominion. (8) That the conference for 1919 be held »> Chr.stehurch. Messrs. W. A. Gee, Sproydon and J. Lggins, Eurwood, wore elected to attend fhe'conference. II W. Child* Ra.apo, vice-president, and Mr.. J. B Mete„t. Ohristohurch, secretary, signified then intention of being present. Arraniranients were made for a general meeting of members to discius the remits, also a social evening to receive the delegates' report of the conference.
