THE "THACKER" PARTY
WHAT MR. HOLLAND THINKS. Mr. Holland does not like Dr. Thacker. At Kelburn last liiglit the Labour-Socialist candidate, when lie was enumerating the various parties in the House whom he disliked most, named "the Msissey party, the Ward party, and the Tliacker party." There was a titter of laughter, and Mr. Holland said: "There is ft Thacker party in Now Zealand, you know." "Of two men," said someone. J "No, no, one man!" said Mr. Holland. And there was loud laughter this time. ONLY ONE AIM KEEP THE NATIONAL GOVERNMENT GOING. Iu taking the ohair at Mr. JF. P. Luke's meeting at Wadestown .last evening, Mr. A. R. Atkinson said that were the conditions other than ivhat
they ara he would differ on many points with the National Government and with Mr. Luko on quito a nun> ber of points, but tliis was the time when they should all stand together. The only, one they should seriously differ from was the Kaiser, who was tho enemy of all, and thoso who encouraged , partisan politics were going to make a great mistake, as suoli politica could only help to prevent them carrying on their part in tho great war. They must keep tho reinforcements going, and the finances going, and to do that he saw no other way than to keep the National Government going. For that reason he was pleased to stand side by side with the candidate of the National Government. He said that no in tho Dominion had done more magnifiqent and energetic non-comba-tant service than Mr. Luke. (Applause.)
