Macpherson, Government Fields Supervisor, states that the majority of tho wheat crops 011 tho Ashburton experimental area have now been cut and are in stook. Early in tho season the small birds commenced to take heavy toll of tho grain, but a boy with a gun was employed daily, and this had the desired effect of frightening the birds.
