THE SAILORS' HOLIDAY

The sai'ors ir port had an exceedingly enjoyable time on Anniversary Day at a picnic in the country, provided by the Sailors' Friend Society, the arrangements being made under the capable direction, of the Missioner, Mr. James Moore. Games of all kinds were indulged in, and lunch and tea were provided on the grounds. The day being perfect, a very happy time was spent, and the party did not set back to the instifrnto until 8 p.m. Tho various prizes were won by Messrs. Bradky, Eoberts, Pritcliard, Thompson, .Piimmur, Darrigan, Blackie, and Jones, Misses Manning and Scott, and Mrs. Dfimldson. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded by the men to Mr. and Mrs. Moore and the members of the society for ths splendid provision made for xho comfort and ente>'tainment of the men during the da,y. On tin return to the institute a capital programme of piano solos, songs, and choruses was given, every item being encored, the performers being Messrs. Wallace, Burridge, Darrigan, and Kckenbeig,.and Misses M'Millan and Mfirjoiie Jones. A conundrum competition nddeJ to the enjoyment of the ev'mh'.g.
