SECOND DIVISION LEAGUE
The Central Executive of the Second Division League met last evening, Mr. & A. Armstrong (president) being in the chair.
The secretary reported that no replies had yet been received from the Minister of Defence or the Prime Minister to the letters sent by the league on. tho alien question, the retention of fifc men on the staffs, :md complaints regarding failute of- the Financial Assistance Board to meet the requirements of soldiers. It was decided to write again, expressing the hope that tljese matters had not been overlooked.
j A number of complaints received from reservists to the effect that they were not getting satisfaction from tho Financial Assistance Board in the matter of new insurance policies for £200 ivere dealt with, and it was decided to. write to the Minister of Defence asking him whether it was the intention of the Government to fulfil the promise made to paj' premium and war risk on these new policies whore the reservist was not previously insured, and his financial position warrants .assistance, and if so that the board be advised to make these grants accordingly. Ifc was further decided, in view of continued complaints, that financial assistance for rent, etc., not being granted in cases requiring assistance that the Minister he asked "whether it was the desire of the Government to have the spirit of the regulations, which had been so fully used in Parliament in an attempt to justify the inadequate separation allowances, recognised by the board and carried into effect."
