The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. report:—At Himitangi, on Monday, we had a full yarding of both sheep and cattle. Competition was fairly good throughout, and we sold practically the whole yarding. Wβ quote :-Store ewes, 155.; fair f.m. ewea, 215.; fat and forward owes, 255. 6d.; mixed 2-tooths (woolly), 345.; good rape lambs, 15s. 6d.; weaner' steers (Jersey) £2 2b., £2 '128. 6d.; weaner heifers (good), £2 17b. 6d.; cows with calves, £4 lls., £7 2s. 6d., £10 2j.; aged store cows, £3 55., £A 10s.; fair store f-ows, £6, £7; fat cows, £10 17s. 6d.. £12 25.; 18-month steers (Ayrehiree), £4: fair 18-month steers, £6 45.; 18-month heifers, £4 6s.
Everybody is busy at work ence more, says the "Southland Times." Shearing operations are on the wane, and there seems to be a sufficient wmber of men to do all the work. Farmers arc busy and eagerly seeking meu for turnip thianiug and gathering in the grass harvest. During this.veek quite a number of men can be placed iii this class of work. • Inquiry for horsemen and general labourers is .;keen. The flaxmills are getting busy once again, and a few men are required for this class of work.
Woolgrovrers are stated to have received better prices this season for their wool than they did last year. Mr. H. Berrymaii, of Stanley Downs, Kohatu, who received ISJd. last year for fine half-bred, this season obtained 21d. for the same class of wool, while liis merino wool brought up to 17d.
