Women's National Reservs. The Eerhampore branch of the Women's National Eeservo again entertained the wives and children at the club rooms last Friday afternoon. This branch is entering very keenly into this work. Mrs. Aileu (the secretary) has dono yeoman services in this respect, and Mrs. Watt (the president) has been greatly interested in the movement from tho start. It would be an immenso help to the club if sympathisers would help by donating gnmos, toys, etc., to the creche. Theso can bo left at tho W.N.R. office, 157 Featherston Street. A very enjoyable afternoon was spent on Friday, Mrs. Grey, of Lyall Bay, being responsible for tho programme, which consisted of songs, recitations, and action songs by Miss Austin, Miss Dayes, Molly, Terence, and Allen Grey and Mrs. Grey. I The club meets every Friday afternoon. The Eltham branch of the Women's National Rescrvo inaugurated the reunions for mothers of tho Empire by holding a large Christmas garden party. The Mayoress (Mrs. Crump) lent her lovely grounds for tho afternoon. These are very picturesguely situated and lend themselves beautifully to such a purpose. A large number assembled and were received by the president (tho Mayoress). A most enjoyable afternoon was spent, a large number of the mothers coming from the surrounding districts. Ono of the mothers who has had six sons at the front was made the recipient of a very handsome presentation on the eve of leaving tho district. Mrs. Barnard has done an immenso amount of patriotic work, and it was thought thiß occasion was a particularly suitable one to hononr her specially. The gatherings are to ba held regularly. A largo number of badges have already been distributed at Eltham. Mrs. W. J. Stratton, of Waimarama, Hastings, is at present on a visit to Wellington. Mrs. Schoch, official visitor to the Porirua Mental Hospital, acknowledges with thanks gifts for the patients' Christmas and New Year from Messrs.; Abbott, Oram and Co., Johnston and Co., Levin and Co., the Warehousemen's Association, Te Aro House, C. Smith, Archer's Drapery House, Kirkaldie and Stains, D.1.C., George and Kersley, British Supply Co., Hayman and Co., S. Myers, and Harold Brown. Mrs Connell, with nor two sons and the Misses Peai'point, have returned to Feilding from Castlccliff, where they spent the Christmas holidays. .Mr J. T. Barry and Mrs. Barry and family (of Whakatane) arc staying for their holidays with Mrs. Oliver Riddcll, Mount Bruce, Mastertun. Mr. and Mrs. Skerrett have left on a trip north. They are staying a tew days in Auckland before they proceed further north. Mrs. Norman James (Wairarapa) is staying at Jluritai for the holidays. Licut.-C'oloncl and Mrs. Sleoman, who liave been at Christchurch, are returning' to AVellinglon. Mrs. Barnicoat, who has heon spending Christmas with her daughter. Mrs. Wall, of Wanganiii, has returned to lier house in Tinakori Road. Mrs. Harry Crawford, who has been abroad, is en.route home. Mrs. Maurice Turrell is tho guest of Mrs. Hclmore at Fendalton, Chrisl.nuicb, Sir Roherfc and Lady Stout aro leaving on Friday for Dunedin, in order to bo present at the meeting of the liiiirorsity Senate. Miss Fitzgerald has returned to town from a trip to Nelson and the West Coast. Miss England, who has been visiting friends in Rangifcikei, has returned to town. Mrs. Fred. Ward, who has been laying at Rotorua, has returned to Auckland. Miss Muir, the matrow of the Christchurch Hospital, is thp guest of Mrs. Molynoux, of Hobson Street. Mrs. Allan Hume, who has been staying in Mrs. Guy Didsbury's housr-, has returned to Featherston. Mrs. Guy Didsbury is staying with her mother, Mrs. M'Dougall, at Puinoa. Mrs. M'Cosb Clark, who has spent some months at the Midland, while her sou was in camp, is now in Ilawke's Bay.
