CANADA NOT GIVEN OPPORTUNITY TO TENDER, Ottawa, December 31. There is somo criticism in tho Canadian Press at the announcement by Mr. W. M. Hughes, Primo Minister of Australia, received by mail, that ths Australian Government has allotted to tho United States contracts for wooden shipbuilding. It is pointed out that while tho east and west coasts of Canada are able to build unlimited numbers of wooden ships, Canada was not given an opportunity to tender for tho work.—Aus.-N.Z. Cablo Assn.
