200 OFFICERS CLAIM £3500 FOR EXPENSES. Some tiino in November it came cut in the House of Commons, amid ironical cheers, that honorary officers of war savings local committees, who attended tlie Albert Hall meeting on October 22, and meetings and conferences hold before and after, had claimed £3500 as expenses Mr 11. Lambert, who asked a question on the subject, wished to know the total cost of tho Albert Hall meeting, apart from the £220 expended on the meeting itself; also how many persons had received or churned out-of-pocket or other expenses, and what was tho amount paid or claimed. Mr. Baldwin, Secretary to the Treasury, cave the answer above, and added that tho claims were under examinaMr. Faber: Is this iho latest form rf patriotism? . . ~ , , Mr. Hogge: Seeing that this, tind of meeting is so expensive, will the Secretary to the Treasury try to discourage it?"
