What", if! believed to be a worlds - ecord for a day's shearing has been ■ established at Taihape by W. Villa, •one of the Dominion's champion shearers, his tally at Mr. J. M'Cartens 'shed being 339. The previous best 'tally was S held by Ei.no (333), but Riauo's tally was* made on lambs, while "Villa's performance is all -tJio more 'meritorious when it is considered that .five hours were occupied on big ewes. •Had the shearing been all ' lambs, •Villa's remarkable total would have been, considerably augmented. lwo •other big tallies were put up m the 'feme shed by J. Skinner (304), and "JvQucenan (264).
