NOTES ON THE PLAY.
Yesterday morning's game saw s.inie queor upsettings in regard to strong paper rinks going down to those not considered to bo "in the running." vOne of these was the defeat of :\ T oble (.the hope of/Newtown), who -has a capital rink ; by W. M'Girr (Seatoun). Another hoil-over was provided vhen M'Arthur (Khandallah) scored his first win vn the tournament over E. J. Hill (Welhington)—an entirely unexpected result.. Among the skips -who aro doing really ivell but were hardly scheduled among U'lose likely to show up high in the lists we James (of Wellington) ar.d Duguid (6-f Kelburn). Both of these rinks have .secured four wins out of Evo games. . The only jinks which have gone through no far without a loss are Horner (Wellington), Siovwright (Wellington), aivd-Keynon (Petono). Tho game Jjetween James (Wellington) and Per.vy (Masterton) had to he adjourned umSnished owing to being lato and tho coming of the rain. After the luncheon adjournitiout this game was continued in the rain, with remarkable results, tho : score;' card reading
83—32, an aggregato of 65 points for the tweuty-five heads. Tall scoring! The defeat of Portoous (Wellington) by Pollock (Newtown) was tho subject of a good deal "of comment. St> fnr it is the crack Wellington skip's < inly defeat, fliid Pollock's rink is ooenposed of beginners. Pollock himself played a magnificent game. . BOWLS MUST BE STAMPED. !All players who will be concerned in the games between ties and win: Ders of sections on Monday are warne.il that the umpire will not allow bou'ls not stampwt with the Dominion Bowling Association's stamp to bo used!. Already between twenty and thirtj i players have been found , to be usinig unstamped bowls (which is quite comtrary to the rules). On Monday properly stamped bowls will be insisted upon, and in order to bowlers as little as possible the official bowltester will be, on the Wellington Olub'3 top green to test and stamp bowls}.
