BOWLS TOURNEY
MARRED BY WET WEATHER ONLY ONE GAME PLAYED YESTERDAY ~l n cnlra but very gloomy weatlior the Wellington Bowling Centre's annual tournament was resumed at 9 30 a.m. yesterday. Tho light rain which had fallen during the night did not improve the greens, which needed fining up, instead of thickening. To some of the dryer greens, however, the dampness had proved beneficial. As the forenoon wore on the clouds became denser, and darker, and just as the games wore finishing at 12.30 p.m. the rain started—a light, quiet, foggy rain, yet of a very wetting variety. It continued for the rest, of the day, making it impossible for play to be continued. At 2.30 p.m. the officials of the centre decided to cry play off for the day, and to commence the seventh round at 9.30 a.m. to-day, leaving the sixth (which should have heen played yesterday, in abeyance). It may bo that the executive will decide to play three games of 21 heads (instead of two of 25 heads) to-day, in order to make up the programmed number of rounds, but that point -will not be decided until this morning, when more will ho known about tho condition of tho greens and the stability of the weather.
