' . • Tho second day's racing; in connection with tho Auckland Baring Club's Summer Meeting will bo held at Elleralio to-day. In addition to the handicap events, tho ltoyal Stakes and Islington Plate will bo run. In tho milo event tho champion maro Deoort Gold will be seen undor Bilk but outeido of her stable 'companion Estland, who is to be gWen a race to assist his Derby preparation, there will be no opposition to Jlr. Lowry's mare. Tho acceptances ior tho handicaps are not as satisfactovy as oould hare been wished for, and the handicapper did not. meet with as good a, response as on the oponing day. The first event is the Bowen Handicap, six furlongs, and the starters > aro to be ridden by apprentices. Moßßmanj Woody Glen, and Jocular have all won over the distance. i . • , Tho place-getters in the Foal Stakes will again moot in tho Eoyal Stakes, and Hymosbra is to throw down the gauntlet to them. Vagabond may bo tho best of the otherß. ■ , , . Long Range and First Rain, the placegcttors in the Nursery Handicap, aro again engaged in tho-Criterion Handicap to-day. They were so much better than the others on Boxing- Day that they will probably carry most money to-day. Lord Kenilworth and Glendower, placeBetters in tho Shortlond Plate, are at tJw head of the handicaps in the mile and a half hack event. Tho latter is mootinc Lord Kenilworth on 61b. better terms. Tho disappointing Hopfleld is No. 1 in the Salisbury Welter, one mile. He and Waiutii, who finished clone up in tho Railway Handicap, may bo the public favourites.
