CHARGE OF MURDER
ALLEGED SEQUEL TO A FRACAS
TRAGEDY AT ASHBURTON By Telegraph—Press AssociationAshburton, December 2i- , Robert Roberts, aged 61, an old resident of the district, was found lying unconscious in a livery stables at Ashburton late on Saturday evening, and was taken to the hospital, ivbeie he died early this morning. It ia alleged that he had an argument whh Hugh Holland, a well-known farmer at linwald/that the latter pushed him over, and that Roberts struck the back or his head on the asphalt. Holland was arrested yesterday, and charged this morning with murder. It is alleged that some men, including Holland and deceased, were drinking in the stable when an argument ensued. Possibly the charge/may be ieduced to one of manslaughter.
