By Telegraph—Pross Associdtnn. Christchuroh, December 18. Tiio further rains during the past few days have been highly boncficiil to the crops. It is hoped ilie change has cleaned tho crops of rust and blight whero they were- affected. Tho main potato crop is looking remarkably well, and promises to bo well abovo the average. Oatsheaf chaff is tho_ only line in which there is any business doing, and this is mainly confined to getting supplies away to the north. Tho tiro steamers available will clear up forward sales. The oats harvest is expected to be delayed a weok or two by tho rain that has fallen, and no sales are yet takingplace. ° SALE OP STUD SHEEP. Mr. William Perry, Penrose, Masterton, has decided to offer for sale by auction, qn January 24, the whole of his stud Komney and Lincoln flock. Tho approximate number of sheep to be offered is as follows:—100 shearling Romnoy rams, 40 shearling Lincoln rams, 60 shearling Romnoy owes, and 30 shearling Lincoln owes. No private sales will bo made. Tho auction will bo conducted by the Wairarapa Farmers' Co-op. Association, Messrs. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Dalgety and Co., A. J. Cooper and Co., and by tho N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agenoy Co;, Ltd.
Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Falmerstou North, report having a good yarding of sheep at their Marton sale on Monday. Competition was not keen and several lines failed to reach vendors' reserves:— Quotations:—-Sheen: Mixed 2-tooths, 265., 275.: 2-tonth ewes, 2«o. to 275.; 2-tooth wethers, 275. 9d. Cattle: Dairy,cows, £7 ss.
